About Tumbarumba

Located on the South-Western slopes of the Snowy Mountains, 504km South-West of Sydney and 701 metres above sea level. Tumbarumba is 2 hours from Canberra and central to Albury and Wagga Wagga. As the town is not on a main highway or rail way it has retained typical Southern NSW small town character. For a good country drive, leave the Hume Highway at Gundagai and travel via Tumut and Batlow (known for its Apples and Cider) to Tumbarumba. Rejoin the Hume at Holbrook. Rich grazing land, horticultural activities, native bushland and views of the magnificent Snowy Mountains including Mt Kosciusko surround the town. Tumbarumba has a productive heritage including gold, timber, agriculture and the Snowy Mountain Scheme and is famous for its cool climate wines.
